Reflection on Web 2.0 Tools

As a part of our MIS course, each student had to choose one of Google tools and train the class on it. After all the students finish their training sessions, each student should individually implement what she leant from these sessions by posing screenshots for each tool in order to show how she is using each tool.  In the end, we should rank those tools based on their usefulness to us, so here is my rank that reflects my opinion on what are the most and the least important tools.

  1.   Blogs: I see the blog as the best tool because to me, it is a new way of sharing ideas and experiences. Also, it is easy to use blogs, customizing and personalizing the blog by using different gadgets and themes that reflect your taste is very enjoyable. By reading my colleagues posts, I was able to discover and see different side of their personalities, which is fantastic. The only thing that was difficult is to choose the topic that you are going to talk about.

2. Google Language Tools: I cannot live without this tool because I use it to do my college work, to translate texts related to movies, serials, new items descriptions and sometimes to deal with some other nationalities.

3. Gmail: I really really like this tool J not only because it is the topic that I trained my class on, but because I use emails too much and having Gmail account made many things easier to me. It is nice to have an email that organizes everything for you and you just come and fined what you want. Gmail stopped the spams nightmare and grant me the dream of having an access to all the documents saved in my home computer by using Gmail drive. Also, it is amazing to use your Gmail as a reminder and a note for your tasks.  I cannot enjoy the other tools provided by Google without my Gmail Account.

4. Picasa: It is one of my favorite tools; I use it to edit the pictures of my families and friends. Moreover, I use it to edit the pictures that will be included in my or my sister’s projects. Finally, prepare short videos for presentations and other personal. All of these things are done in a very easy way with a high quality result and that what’s makes me choose one of the first preferable tools.

5. Google Alerts: I love this tool because I do daily researches whether for the college or personal purposes and getting all the alerts about the topics that I want is much easier than keep searching. Also, most of the alerts match what I want, so of course I will like it.

6. Twitter: Twitter became one of my favorite tools because is very easy to be used and you get news in very short and fast way. I’m always checking my twitter account now and I get the tweets on my mobile phone. I enjoy reading daily jokes and tweets made by friends.

7. Google Reader: The reason behind me liking this tool is that it helps me in getting all the updates about the topic that I like, my friends’ posts and other websites that I’m interested in. What is good about this tool is that all the information and updates that interest you are collected in one place and  you don’t have to read them immediately you can came back whenever you are free and read them without rush.

8. Google Searching: Searching techniques makes my search easier and faster. It is very beneficial for the projects search because now I know how to use Google Searching to find reliable sources. Also, I like the idea of searching by specific types of documents like PPT or Word. I used this tool a lot in doing my projects.

9. Google News: It is beneficial because I see it as the newspaper that is published to meet all my requirements and wants in terms of the layout the type of news and the type of publishers and receiving updates about the topic that I like.

10. Google Calendar: I don’t like to use electronic things to organize my time or appointment, but by syncing Google Calendar with my phone changed my mind, as I just have to open my phone calendar to check all my appointment, which is cool. Without Aisha Saif I think I would not be using this tool right now.

11. Google Blog Search: Own of the fabulous tools, it facilitate the search of blogs.  Now, I spend half of the time that I used to spend before in searching blogsJ. Usually I use it to search for topics that interests me like blogs posts about Korean and Japanese serials and movies. Using the advance searching makes the search much easier.

12. Google Chrome: From the first time I used the internet until Badryah’s training session, I only used one web browser which IE. But now, I transferred all my bookmarks to Google Chrome because it is easier, faster, has creative features like theme, backgrounds, panic button and games.

13. Facebook: Before, I didn’t think that I will ever use this tool. Most of my friends have a face book account and the kept telling me to join them and sending invitations in order to make me change my mind. However, I’m using at a lot know after attending the training session by Hessa. Actually, I have created new account other than what I used for this task. I use it to share information, videos and pictures. Also, I use it in finding my old friends and meeting new friends. I liked the idea of telling the others what your interests are, which gives you the chance to find and share them with people who also have similar interest.

14. Google Docs: If we knew about this tool from last semester, it would be better. Most our work is in groups, so it is very helpful to use this tool in sharing and editing documents without the need to keep sending it by email every time you change something. It is very beneficial for me because I use it as a storage tool because I don’t use my laptop at home, so keep sending my document by email or saving it on USB is annoying and it puts my document in a risk as my USB might be lost or damaged or as usual the computer will ask me to format it. Moreover, I use it to check and modify my sister projects, who does not live with me.

15. Google Finance: Actually it is useful for me as an accounting student and it assist me in helping my brother who is taking some accounting and finance class now in doing his projects. I use it to check the financial statements of the companies and their news.  The ability to compare between two companies and see it in graphs for easier understanding is fabulous as I don’t have to spend time on preparing and then analyzing the graphs.

16. iGoogle: One of the tools that grant your web page some joy and refreshment as you can change the plain white background with something more lively. I keep changing the gadgets from time to time in order to not feel bored.

17. Google Earth: Maybe this tool is not that beneficial for me, as I don’t travel that much, but still I help my brothers to see the places they want to travel to. Also, when I hear about beautiful places or countries, I use Google Earth to see it. In my opinion, the most interesting thing about this tool is that I can see what is on the space other than the earth.

18. Social Bookmarking: I tried it because I know it is a very beneficial tool for me because of my problem with not liking to use laptops, but unfortunately I cannot trust these kinds of websites. However, I liked the idea of sharing links with colleagues and friends.

19. Google Groups: I did not like using this tool and I don't think that I'm going to use it in future, unless, I'm forced to.

20. Google Sites: I didn’t like this tool as it is slow and has a storage limit, which made me nervous all the time as I keep hearing the girls saying that they used more than 50% of the storage capacity even thought they didn’t finish half of the tools. Every time we delete a picture, we have to delete the same picture from the attachments in order to not reach the storage limit, which is very annoying.

Actually, when I heard about this project I said “ it is not enough to be an accounting student and take an IT course, they want us to do all of these things”. However, I think it was the best way to make me love and keep using something that I don’t like. Usually, once I finish any IT course, I don’t implement, think or remember anything of what I learnt later. This is not what is going to happen this time because even now after finishing the course, I still use most of the tools. Although Mr.Tridib was little bet tough on us, he is the only reason that made us learn all of this stuff, which are new to us as accounting students. I think without his way in teaching, we would not be able to learn and benefit from this course, so thank you sir for giving us the opportunity to and see things from different prospective J

Snake at Home

All my brothers and my nephew came to my home today, but I stayed in my room as I have to finish my projects. Suddenly, I heard my older sister screaming, so I run out to check what is going on and I was really shocked when I saw a snake on my brother’s neck. I thought it is a fake snake, but actually it was a real snake. My nephew brought from his friend's house to show it to my brothers.  The funniest thing is that my sister took my nieces and run away and my nephew kept running after her to convince her that the snake is not dangerous. By the way don’t think like my friend about how we are crazy to let our young nephew to carry something dangerous like this because actually he is not that young, he is older than me.

Graduation

Now, I’m complaining and fed up with all the projects, exams, grades, tiredness, stress and not having time for ourselves, family and friends. I just want all of this to be ended as soon as possible and what makes me bear it is that there are only two more weeks to finish my last semester. I will take my Bachelor certificate and the journey of searching for job will start, a new life is waiting for me. Here I started to think that I will not come back next semester, I will miss all of these things that I’m now complaining about and what I will miss more is my colleagues. I wish them all the best and Inshaa Allah they will have a very happy and successful life that makes them and there familes so proud.

Tips and Tricks About Exams Preparations

There is no short cut to success, this is the first thing you should remember. For this reason you have to study well first of all.

The 1st tip : Never fear or hate exam and be confident.
Some students study well but still may be much afraid of exams and due to this reason they get distracted and won't be able to score marks. So leave all your fears and free your mind before starting the study. You have to be confident and it is the most essential power you should have for attaining victory.

The 2nd tip: Prepare a good time table.
Prepare a time table before starting the study. This should include all the subjects but may not be with equal priority. Tough subjects can be given more time and easier ones less but most importantly some time shall be allotted for entertainment and also there should be sufficient intervals between each subject.

The 3rd tip: Select a proper atmosphere for studying.
No need to explain this point. Study atmosphere has very important role. Can anyone study well while watching TV? So select a place where you feel comfortable. That is where you feel relaxed and can concentrate. And you have to make sure that while you are studying a subject you are concentrating on it only. So keep the books of other subjects away from your eyesight so that you won't be upset about the things you have to learn. And importantly it is better to study early morning when all the surroundings will be in silence and you can concentrate more. Your concentration really counts. Never place a mirror in the room such that you will ur reflection while sitting to study. This will lead to lack of concentration. And one top secret Study facing east or more accurately North east. This will give you great positive energy and your marks will definitely increase.

The 4th tip : Sit straight
This is so important that you have to sit in proper manner while studying. Don't study on bed or lying on a chair instead sit straight. Keep your spinal cord straight. And try to place your legs parallel to ground, a little bit raised from the ground. Other wise placing the legs on the ground causes ionization and induces sleep. And be alert that legs are not above the head level. This will affect the blood flow direction and causes sleepiness. It is better to place the legs almost parallel to ground but a little lower.

The 5th tip : Make notes while studying.
This is a very important point. While studying make small notes and that should not be descriptive make it brief so that you can remember all points while doing revision with the help of that note. An ideal note shall include all important formulae and figures and also other important points. It will be a lot worth if you use this not for the revision in last one or two hours than u skipping through pages of your study material. It won't take much time to go through this note and if you feel tough anywhere you can refer for that portion in text book.

The 6th tip: Sleep well and Eat well.
You have to sleep well.Sleep deprivation study shows that Optimum hours for sleeping is 6hrs. Especially on the night before exam you have to sleep well, atleast 6 hours and not more than 8 hours. Remember this will have a great effect on your exam. And have your food as in your daily diet. Don't fast on exam day. This will have reverse effect, so please have food properly. There are some food items you have to avoid and some other you have to include in your diet on exam day. Check for them later in this article (in tips for parents),And don't forget to have a glass water before you go to bed, essential to keep your brain cells charged!!!

The 7th tip : Write and Present well.
The presentation is the major factor that affects your marks. Whatever you studied or prepared your marks will depend on how you present them in the answer sheet. The teachers may not be able to read all what you have written. Remember daily they are going through 30 to 40 papers. They will scan for points. So try to present answers in points. In essay questions don't forget to underline the important points . And another important factor to remember, As we all know 'First impression is the best impression'. So, answer the questions you know well, first. This will create a good impression on the evaluator and though you couldn't write some last answers well, that won't deduct your mark much. And care shall be taken so that you manage time well and is able to attend all questions.

The 8th tip: Believe in God, Believe in you.
The last point, pray well before the exam and your mind should be free at least 5 minutes before exam. Pray can give immense energy and peace to your mind that will definitely do good for you.And it is much important that you are confident about what you can and will always produce pleasant result.
Also remember one thing please don't discuss soon after exams. This won't do good and may affect your coming exams. If your friends are discussing question paper avoid them and come to house soon.

And above all you think about your parents their difficulties and sufferings and how they care you , you owe to them much, don't you?. The best gift you can give them is your victory. So never disappoint your parents. Study is not for them they are compelling you to study for your future. And ultimately what I have to say is that You have a lot of opportunities now.If you are serious in your studies for a few years of your life then the remaining part of your life will be fruitful and you people shall never stop study after getting a degree or a small job always look for higher studies and aims big hurdles.

Zayed

His Highness Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan is my idol and topic for this post, but I cannot write anything about him, as I believe that nothing can be proper, suitable or even fair to him. Therefore, I will just share with you some of his precious quotes and videos because I think these can deliver the feelings and meanings in a better way than me writing about him. The only thing that I want to say is that UAE has lost a leader and a father, and I believe his position in the heart of UAE’s people will never ever be changed or replaced by someone else. May God rests his soul in peace.  الله يرحمه و يغفر له و يجعل مثواه الجنة

These are 11 quotes of His Highness Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan:

Arab oil can never be dearer than Arab blood.
The Ruler should not have any barrier that separates him from his people.
History is a continuous chain of events. The present is only an extension of the past.
We should preserve our traditions and national heritage. We should stick to our roots and our Arabic and Islamic traditions.

Women constitute half of any society in the world. As housewives, women are the educators of future generations. Any nation aspiring to build an advanced society should not leave women in the grip of ignorance and oppression. Women should be educated and liberated in order to participate in the development of their society.
A country's only true resource is its youth.
He who does not know his past cannot make the best of his present and future, for it is from the past that we learn.
Islam affords women their rightful status, and encourages them to work in all sectors, as long as they are afforded appropriate respect.

Our system of government is based on our religion, and is what our people want. Should they seek alternatives, we are ready to listen to them. We are all in the same boat, and they are both captain and crew.
Situations change from time to time. A friend may become an enemy and an enemy a friend. Life is inconsistent and ever changing. So are health and weather. We must therefore be prepared for the unexpected changes coming our way.
The real asset of any advanced nation is its people, especially the educated ones, and the prosperity and success of the people are measured by the standard of their education.
Here are the videos, I always watch the first video and from the first few seconds I start to cry.

Looking For a Groom

Hi my sweet blog viewers
As you can see in the title of this post I’m looking for a charming groom for a gorgeous and docile cat that I found two days ago in the street :( Usually, I don’t touch any cat in the street, but when you see this cat and her long hair and how small, adorable, quite and cute she is, you directly can guess that she was living in a house and she is not a homeless cat, who used to live in the street.  The cat being injured and has a fever :( are the real reasons that made me took her. Therefore, we took her to the veterinarian. He gave her an injection for her fever, a bath and finally cut her nails.
As we don’t raise cats in our home, I gave the cat to my sister-in-low, who treats cats as her children and the cat's age is 7 months only, so she can be considered as one of the kids. Now, my sister-in-low is looking for a groom for the cat, but he must have white hair because my sister-in-low doesn’t want the cat to have children with mixed colors.

My Brother's Birthday

My brother’s birthday was last Thursday and because all of his birthday parties were made at home, me and his wife decided to arrange a surprise party for him somewhere else. Usually, all my brothers and sisters gather on Thursday, so it was suspicious to just tell him that no one is coming and that we want to go out for dinner. Therefore, I told him that I need him to come with me to take my watch to Paris Gallery  and  while we are there I suggested to call my brothers and sisters to have dinner in Caser Restaurant and he agreed. All my brothers and sisters were waiting for us in the restaurant, we had dinner and everything was going normally. After that we told my brothers to go the washroom and to take him, so the staff can bring the cake and play the birthday song. When my brother was coming back to the room he heard the birthday song and he said “how did they know it is my birthday, you are my family and you forgot about it” actually he was joking and still didn’t get that this song is for him.

When he entered and saw the cake his face was like

and then it became like

Actually, He was not shocked just because of the surprised party, you know what shocked him more? “The cake“

I will tell you the story of this cake, his wife kept saying that she wants him to buy a Mercedes for her as a gift, so he told her” if you want me to give you a Mercedes as a gift, you should give me the tyre as a gift and then you will get the car”. Therefore, she made this cake which looks like a tyer that has the Mercedes logo and then she told him I brought the tyer, now it is your turn to bring the car (women become really smart when they want something). One of the funniest things is that in the beginning the staff in the restaurant refused to put the cake in the refrigerator because they didn't believe it is a cake and they thought it is just a prank. It was a nice day in which I forget everything about college, projects and tests.
